Churches run many kinds of events. Here is what each one usually means, so you can choose the right one.
Churches run events all year, and the names can blur together. Here is what each one usually means.
Retreat
A time away for quiet, prayer and rest. Retreats are often small, may include periods of silence, and usually run from one night to a week.
Camp
An outdoor stay, often for families, young people or children, mixing worship with games, walks and shared meals. Tents or cabins are common.
Conference
A gathering with talks, workshops and discussion on a theme, such as music, leadership or Bible study. Conferences can be one day or several, and are usually in a church or a conference centre.
Course
A series of sessions over a few weeks. Courses for newcomers often combine a meal, a short talk and discussion, with no pressure to join in.
Festival
A celebration, often with music, worship and activities for all ages, held over a weekend or a few days.
You can browse all of these on the events page, and filter by type and country.
